2013 Season
League 3 Report - 26 May
We finally got some nice weather for a league event. After Round 1 nearly being blown away and Round 2 being washed away it was a pleasant surprise.
The Dynamic league had a new entrant in Andy Harrold flying one of the loan planes. George had unfortunately forgotten his wing otherwise there would have been 4 people in the class. Top score on the day was 13 legs. Spot landings with the dynamics are quite tricky as they don't have the flaps to help slow them up. None the less Tony scored a 30 and most of the other landings were in the 20 circle. At the end of the day Andy won with 2000 points followed by Tony (1991) and then Glen (1920). Steve and Alan had a shoot out at the end of the day to see how many legs could be obtained with the machines - It looks like 15-16 legs is about the max they will get in good conditions.
The F5B class had a healthy turn out of 9 pilots. Josef arrived with his shark tooth props and was pushing hard for top spot on the day but others had something to say about that. Steve tried a new flying style keeping it INCREDIBLY fast and low - Even shocked himself in one round with the entry speed but I think he overflew Base B by about 3 miles due to the entry velocity until he managed to tame the beast! Tim had another solid day and added 4 legs to his PB. Roy had an interesting landing in one round and eventually discovered after the last flight that a solder joint on his wing plug had come loose. Hence he was damn lucky to get the plane down in one piece. That didn't stop him storming into 2nd place. Final placings were - 1st Alan, 2nd Roy, 3rd Josef, joint 4th Steve/Mark, 6th George, 7th Dick, 8th Tony, 9th Tim.
A number of B13's were delivered on the day so we may see some of them out for our Eurotour event at the beginning of July.

Entry Level Class
We have been working with on an entry level F5B class. The idea behind this is that everyone with an electric glider can enter. There will be a league for this class which runs alongside the FAI F5B events except for during the Eurotour. The models for the league classification are ST Models Blaze or Hobby King Dynamic S (Possibly the Multiplex Blizzard as well) – Minimal modifications will be permitted. The idea behind the class is for under £100 people can purchase a plane and battery and then compete. More details to follow. Please note you do not need to have one of the specified planes to fly.
