28/04/2012 - League 1 report
First event of 2012 took place at Ramsey MAC's field near Warboys in Cambridge. Weather forecast wasn't looking good for the weekend especially given it had been raining for most of the week prior to the event.
Round 1 - We were all ready to start by 10am! Bit of a record that for us..... However first issue of the day turned out to be getting the 2nd Jeti RX connected to the gas boxes. Turns out you need to have the main RX bound to the TX then the 2nd one will receive input. As a result of this Tony skipped to the front of the flying order and put in a solid performance. Alan was up next and had numerous motor on's into the course including other course oddness. Mark had a big challenge trying to squeeze everything back into the B95 fuz. Seems that over the winter either the fuz shrank or the components grew! Dick had a gearbox failure on his Kontronik. After landing he wanted to be absolutely sure he returned a mashed bag of bits so he ran the motor up again! Alan got a reflight and managed to just beat Steve into winning Round 1.

After landing he wanted to be absolutely sure he returned a mashed bag of bits so he ran the motor up again! Alan got a reflight and managed to just beat Steve into winning Round 1.
Round 2 - This was a very closely fought affair between Steve and Alan. Steve came out on top by 3 points! Mark switched from the B95 to his "trusty" RW4. He commented before the flight that it glides like a ***. However he managed 2 flights with 0 motor score so it cannot be all that bad!
Round 3 - Round 3 saw Steve victorious by quite a margin. He pulled in 2 more legs than anyone else so unless he had a disaster on the duration he had the event in the bag. He brought it home with 0 motor run and 1 point lost on duration.
We tried to fly a 4th round. The wind had dropped and Alan managed 45 legs including a cut at Base B. About 30 seconds into his duration light rain arrived. Decision was made to stay up. However within 60 seconds the light rain turned into VERY heavy hail. All the helpers vanished leaving Alan to land on his own. We tried a couple more flights and it became clear that the rain had settled in for the rest of the day.
